Formerly called Gay Pride , it has been shortened to encompass all sexual orientations apart from heterosexuality. But few really know where the Pride comes from !
Pride tends to be celebrated in the month of June, as it is the month of the Stonewall Riots . The most important event in the history of gay rights, which gave birth to a movement all over the world.
It was on the night of June 27 to 28, 1969, that a group of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people rebelled against the police who had come to raid Stonewall In, a gay bar in New York. The struggle between the police forces and those present lasted several days.
This event has since been considered a major step in the fight for respect for human rights and equality for all .
LGBTQ+ rights have come a long way over the past few decades. However, they still have a long way to go! Gay marriage is still illegal in some countries, and being gay is still frowned upon in others!
The Pride parade represents diversity, love, sharing and respect. It encourages us to accept ourselves and others. In addition, it is an event that gives visibility to the community but also and above all to the values it advocates.

This year, the parade will set off from Michel Bizot station in the 12th arrondissement to reach Place de la République!
